EMBRACE THE UNIVERSE
Curated by Kim Yongmoon, one of Hacettepe University Fine
Arts Faculty Ceramics and Glass Department Professors, the
international workshop on the theme of "embracing the universe"
was organized within the scope of the 40th anniversary of
our faculty's establishment. A total of 33 artists from the Faculty of
Fine Arts and academicians and foreign artists from other universities
in Turkey participated. H.U. FoFA. During the workshop in the
Ceramics and Glass Department, 13 bowls (macsabals) drawn by Kim
Yongmoon on a clay wheel were given to each of 33 artists
and the artists were asked to complete the bowls with their
own interpretations. As a result, a total of 429 bowls reflect the artists'
own feelings and thoughts. People's thoughts are as diverse
as the countless stars in the universe. These countless thoughts
will multiply even more when the audience looks at the bowls
(macsabals). Each dish has the signature of both Kim Yongmoon and
the artist who made the interpretation. These bowls were first
exhibited at the International Macsabal Silk Road Gallery at
ArtContactIstanbul Contemporary Art Fair on 1-4 June 2023 in Istanbul. Afterwards,
the second exhibition will take place at Nurol Art Gallery
in Ankara between 10-22 June. In this exhibition at Nurol Art Gallery,
the large-sized works of Kim Yongmoon, which he called action
paintings on canvas, will be embraced with bowls.
