History of the department;
Hacettepe University Faculty of Fine Arts Department of Ceramics and Glass was established on 28.03.1993. It was founded by Hamiye Çolakoğlu and under the head of Sıtkı M. Erinç in 1983/1984. In addition to 4 years of Undergraduate Program, it also includes Postgraduete Program and Proficiency in Arts. Between 1984-1986, Sıtkı M. Erinç, between 1986-2000 Hamiye Çolakoğlu, between 2003-2012 Nazan Sönmez, between 2000-2003, 2012-2015 Candan Terviel and 2015-2020 T. Emre Feyzoğlu was appointed as the head of the department and currently this task is sustained by H. Mutlu Yağcı.
Introduction of department;
Hacettepe University Faculty of Fine Arts Department of Ceramics and Glass started 4-years undergraduate education in 1983-1984 academic year and immediately opened master and art proficiency programs. Every year, our department accepts students who have passed a detailed assessment process with special talent exam. The department, academic staff, updated multi-faceted curriculum, firing facilities and techniques among the most qualified in its ceramic divisions in Turkey.
Aims and scopes of the department;
It aims to organize a curriculum that follows the technology and artistic orientations of the age more rapidly in the education of ceramic art at national and international level, and to become a leading educational institution with its intructors that pushes its opportunities in order to improve itself further and increase its productivity. The aim of this department is to educate the pioneer, contemporary and creative individuals in the field of ceramics, who takes up seriously the opportunities of art, develop the progressive thinking and contribute in every field of art at national and international level.
The Department of Ceramics and Glass strives to provide students with the environment and opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills in the field of ceramics. The faculty members contribute to the production of scientific knowledge and art through regular national and international artistic activities and publications. With this instructors, Ceramic and Glass Undergraduate program which updates the course curriculum in line with scientific and technological developments and changes in art; The program provides a holistic approach to ceramic art education through technical, theoretical and studio workshops in its curriculum. With this approach, it aims to educate artists and designers following the era. In line with this aim, it provides a multi-faceted education in the fields of art history, contemporary art, ceramic history, contemporary ceramic art, ceramic chemistry and technology, glass and decor techniques along with the artistic and industrial application areas of ceramic art. In the line of this program and facilities, it is aimed that our students who have gained versatile knowledge about the field of ceramics to become competent designers and artists in art and industrial fields.
